GPBC Alumni Musical Careers

After twelve years with the choir, Kelan earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Alberta, where he studied both baritone and countertenor roles with Canadian tenor John Tessier. He also performed with the Madrigal Singers, serving as a board member and President. Kelan then went on to study at London’s acclaimed Guildhall School of Music & Drama under renowned countertenor Andrew Watts, and tenor Adrian Thompson earning him both a Master of Music and Master
of Performance, graduating as a Guildhall Artist.

Kelan is equally at home on the baroque stage as he is with contemporary crossover repertoire, and has sung across Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

His operatic credits include the ‘Spirit’ in Dido and Aeneas, ‘Sun’ in the Canadian premiere of The Enchanted Pig, ‘Babylas’ in Monsieur Choufleuri, ‘Major General Stanley’ in The Pirates of Penzance, and ‘Pluton’ in Orphée aux Enfers. He has also sung with Edmonton Opera Chorus in Tosca and Carmen, and regularly performs concert and consort music at Guildhall and with members of the Academy of Ancient Music. Kelan was selected as a voice fellow for Opernfest Prague 2026.

Outside of music, Kelan enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, flying sailplanes, and relaxing over coffee or a dram of whiskey. His roots in rural Canada continue to inspire his mission to make classical music accessible and meaningful to a broader public.

Cameron sang with the Grande Prairie Boy’s Choir from 2010-2019. Since then, he has completed a diploma in Music majoring in Voice Performance from NWP (Formerly GPRC), sang with the Alberta Youth Choir (AYC) in 2018 and 2019, travelled Japan twice, and even ended up on Japanese TV Imitating a famous Japanese Singer! Cameron has been a part of three GP Opera productions as chorus and as Remendado in “Carmen”. Cameron currently sings with the Continuum of Men as a Tenor 1 and works as the section lead for Tenor 1 in the Men of Note. Cameron’s true calling is performing Japanese pop music! Alongside his good friend Erik Forsberg (another choir alumni), he plays guitar and sings vocals for “Affinity Accord”, their J-pop style band focusing on high quality internet music videos and faithful re-creations of their most favourite Japanese songs. Since their formation in September of 2024, they have amassed over 100k views on their channel.

Erik Forsberg is a member of the Grande Prairie Boys Choir (GPBC). He grew up in the choir, and has since become a member of the Continuum of Men, and a Vocal Coach for the boys in the GPBC. Erik has completed one year of a Bachelor of Music at Northwestern Polytechnic, with a major in voice and minor in piano, which sprouted Erik’s passion for music that he now has. Erik possesses an excellent ear, which helps him produce, arrange, and record music. Erik is also a member of a band that he started with his good friend Cameron, named Affinity Accord, for which he plays bass guitar, piano/keys, and sings. Through Affinity Accord, Erik expresses his love for J-pop and City pop style music, as well as his love for playing bass guitar.
