GPBC Alumni Musical Careers
Matthew Dalen
Praised for his “top notes exploding like fireworks, sparkling and incandescent”, Matthew Dalen is a tenor in demand. His performance in the title role in Schubert’s Fierabras (Toronto Operetta Theatre) garnered critical acclaim. Throughout his blossoming career, Dalen has been engaged with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (Gerdine Young Artist), Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and Grand Philharmonic Choir (Kitchener, ON), as well as several other companies throughout North America and Europe. Recent engagements include Borsa in Verdi’s Rigoletto (Edmonton Opera) as well as the covers of Lensky in Eugene Onegin, and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor with l’Opéra de Montréal. Next season, Matthew will be performing with several prominent Canadian orchestras including Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Matthew is a graduate of Vancouver Opera’s Yalunda M. Faris young artist program and has been selected as a Jeune ambassadadeur lyrique. Matthew is a proud graduat of l’Atelier Lyrique at l’Opéra de Montréal.

Cameron Irwin
Cameron sang with the Grande Prairie Boy’s Choir from 2010-2019. Since then, he has completed a diploma in Music majoring in Voice Performance from NWP (Formerly GPRC), sang with the Alberta Youth Choir (AYC) in 2018 and 2019, travelled Japan twice, and even ended up on Japanese TV Imitating a famous Japanese Singer! Cameron has been a part of three GP Opera productions as chorus and as Remendado in “Carmen”. Cameron currently sings with the Continuum of Men as a Tenor 1 and works as the section lead for Tenor 1 in the Men of Note. Cameron’s true calling is performing Japanese pop music! Alongside his good friend Erik Forsberg (another choir alumni), he plays guitar and sings vocals for “Affinity Accord”, their J-pop style band focusing on high quality internet music videos and faithful re-creations of their most favourite Japanese songs. Since their formation in September of 2024, they have amassed over 100k views on their channel.

Erik Forsberg
Erik Forsberg is a member of the Grande Prairie Boys Choir (GPBC). He grew up in the choir, and has since become a member of the Continuum of Men, and a Vocal Coach for the boys in the GPBC. Erik has completed one year of a Bachelor of Music at Northwestern Polytechnic, with a major in voice and minor in piano, which sprouted Erik’s passion for music that he now has. Erik possesses an excellent ear, which helps him produce, arrange, and record music. Erik is also a member of a band that he started with his good friend Cameron, named Affinity Accord, for which he plays bass guitar, piano/keys, and sings. Through Affinity Accord, Erik expresses his love for J-pop and City pop style music, as well as his love for playing bass guitar.
